Blackburn Trams
Trams began
running in Blackburn in 1881 and this unique form
of public transport lasted through two world wars,
before finally being replaced by the buses in 1949.
This history
gives an insight into the operating of the tramways
system as well as a look at every day life on the
trams.

Blackburn Buses
Beginning in 1929 as a complementary service to
the tramways, the buses eventually took over and
ruled the roost as Corporation owned and then in
private sector ownership until 2007.
You can read all about the many changes that have taken place 'on the buses' over the 78 years of operation.
